Senator Ted Cruz has accused U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland of potentially committing two felonies, citing the claims of two whistleblowers from the FBI who have recently stepped forward. As a result, Cruz is urging the appointment of a special prosecutor to look into Garland’s actions.

Cruz accused Garland of potentially lying under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee and obstructing justice during the Hunter Biden investigation. He insists that a special prosecutor should be appointed to determine if Garland has indeed committed multiple felonies.

During his appearance on Fox News, Cruz highlighted the contradiction between Garland’s statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he claimed there was no political interference in the Hunter Biden investigation, and the accounts provided by the whistleblowers.

The senator from Texas stressed the significance of a hearing where both whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and their FBI colleague, along with U.S. Attorney David Weiss and Attorney General Merrick Garland, should testify under oath to determine the truth. Cruz asserted that someone was lying, and if it turned out to be Garland, he would have committed two felonies: lying under oath before Congress and obstructing justice.

Cruz believes that Garland’s possible conflict of interest disqualifies him from handling the issue. He proposes that an unbiased special counsel should be appointed to probe the allegations of criminal behavior against the Attorney General. However, the likelihood of this happening seems slim as the Department of Justice would be responsible for appointing a special prosecutor, and the Biden administration has denied any wrongdoing.

The FBI whistleblowers’ allegations revolve around an alleged FBI coverup of crimes associated with Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden’s son. A hearing has been scheduled by the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, during which whistleblowers will provide crucial information regarding the Biden family’s alleged influence-peddling activities.

Previously, Gary Shapley and his unnamed colleague testified before the House Ways and Means Committee, claiming that their investigation into Hunter Biden was obstructed by their Biden-appointed superiors, who sought to protect him by impeding their efforts.

The Oversight Committee’s investigation into the Biden family’s business dealings has raised concerns about a potential two-tiered system of justice that allows the Biden family to operate above the law.

Senator Cruz has expressed his frustration towards the Senate Democrats for not showing any interest in seeking the truth and holding the FBI accountable. According to Cruz, he had a meeting with Comer to discuss the allegations made by the whistleblower. He further commented that the House aims to ensure that the FBI is held accountable. However, he believes that Senate Democrats have no interest in knowing the truth.
