Los Angeles, CA – Reality TV star Katie Price is facing criticism after spending £2,000 on two sphynx cats amidst financial struggles and backlash from animal protection groups.
The 46-year-old announced on social media that she has added two more sphynx cats to her furry family, each worth £1,000. This brings her total to five hairless cats, including Dobby, Hagrid, and Daisy, the latter being acquired in September.
Price’s recent pet purchase has sparked outrage due to a history of her pets dying while under her care. Over the past six years, she has sadly announced the deaths of five dogs, a horse, and a chameleon, leading to concerns from fans and animal advocacy organizations urging her to refrain from acquiring more animals.
In her memoir released in July 2024, Price revealed the heartbreaking story of having to euthanize her sphynx kitten named Frog due to an incurable neurological disease. She also recounted the tragic deaths of her other pets, including her French Bulldog Rolo, who was crushed under an electric armchair, and her dog Queenie, who was run over by a delivery van.
Additionally, Price faced criticism for her handling of her pets’ deaths, such as her Alsatian Sparkle being hit by a car, similar to the fate of her horses in 2017. Following these incidents, she adopted a new Alsatian named Tank, only to give him away after facing backlash for a video that circulated online.
Furthermore, the scrutiny surrounding Price’s pet ownership is compounded by her financial troubles. Declared bankrupt for the second time in March 2024, she faced arrest in August for failing to appear in court, opting instead to undergo plastic surgery.
Despite the criticism and controversies, Price continues to attract attention for her actions, both in terms of her pet ownership and personal decisions. The ongoing saga of her pet acquisitions and the tragic losses she has endured serve as a cautionary tale about responsible pet ownership and financial management.
