Washington, D.C. – The FBI has established a task force to address the rising incidents of violence against Tesla vehicles, dealerships, and charging stations across the United States. This task force, in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), aims to coordinate investigative efforts to combat the targeted attacks on Tesla properties.

Recent weeks have seen a surge in vandalism, arson, and targeted shootings directed at Tesla assets, coinciding with Elon Musk’s involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration. As the co-founder and CEO of Tesla, Musk’s association with efforts to reduce wasteful spending and fraud within the government may have sparked these attacks.

Since March 1, 2025, the FBI has received 48 reports related to criminal activities, violence, and threatening communications against Tesla, prompting the agency to engage with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to address the issue. Several arson investigations are currently underway, with the FBI looking into potential connections to online groups.

In response to the escalating violence, FBI Director Kash Patel has emphasized the agency’s commitment to protecting the American people and pursuing perpetrators of such acts with the full force of the law. The recent arrests related to Molotov cocktails in Salem, Oregon, and Loveland, Colorado, underscore the seriousness with which law enforcement agencies are treating these incidents.

Furthermore, the FBI has identified the attacks on Tesla as “domestic terrorism,” with Attorney General Pam Bondi echoing this sentiment and announcing charges against suspects involved in the arson cases. Musk himself has expressed shock and disappointment at the violent protests and attacks against Tesla, condemning the acts and questioning the motives behind them.

As tensions continue to escalate, Tesla Takedown protesters are planning demonstrations at all 277 Tesla showrooms and Supercharger stations on March 29, 2025. The FBI’s efforts to streamline threat reports and establish a command post at headquarters reflect the agency’s commitment to addressing the threat posed by these attacks.

In light of Musk’s concerns about the political motivations driving the violence, the FBI is ramping up its efforts to investigate and apprehend those responsible for the targeted attacks on Tesla properties. The task force’s proactive approach aims to ensure that those who engage in violence against Tesla will be held accountable for their actions.
