The Escalating Epidemic of Trump Derangement Syndrome

The election is over. The people have spoken. Donald J. Trump has returned to the White House. Yet for millions of Americans suffering from what can only be described as Trump Derangement Syndrome, the nightmare is just beginning—again.

What we’re witnessing isn’t simply political disappointment. It’s a full-blown psychological condition that continues to infect our institutions, media, and even personal relationships. TDS—a term that perfectly captures this irrational hysteria, has evolved from a temporary affliction into a chronic condition threatening the very fabric of our constitutional republic.

   The Symptoms Worsen

The symptoms are unmistakable and increasingly severe. Just look at the progressive meltdowns playing out on social media platforms and cable news networks. The same talking heads (Fake News) who confidently predicted Trump’s political demise are now breathlessly forecasting the end of democracy itself, apparently oblivious to the fact that Trump’s victory came through the most democratic process we have: an election of the American will.

These professional panic-peddlers don’t see their own contradiction: claiming to defend democracy while simultaneously rejecting its results. Their selective outrage reveals the truth, this isn’t about principles, it’s about power. The Democrat party thrives on POWER! They cannot go forward without it!

Make no mistake, these reactions aren’t reasonable political differences. When university professors cancel classes to hold “grief sessions,” when celebrities threaten to flee the country (yet never do), when mainstream journalists abandon even the pretense of objectivity to become anti-Trump activists, we’re witnessing something far beyond normal political discourse.

   The Institutional Damage

Perhaps most concerning is how TDS has corrupted our fundamental institutions. For years, we watched as government agencies were weaponized against the sitting President Trump. The Russia collusion hoax. Two impeachment farces. The ongoing lawfare campaign. Each assault was presented as defending “our democracy” while actually undermining the constitutional order our founders established.

Now, with Trump’s return to office, we’re seeing the second phase of this institutional meltdown. Activist judges are preparing to obstruct legitimate executive actions. Fake News Media outlets are gearing up for four more years of apocalyptic coverage.

Have we forgotten that America has survived political transitions for nearly 250 years? The hysteria suggests many have lost perspective on the remarkable durability of our constitutional system.

   The Cultural Divide

TDS has transformed political disagreement into moral condemnation. Those suffering from this condition don’t merely think Trump supporters are wrong, they view them as irredeemably evil and racist. This dehumanization makes dialogue impossible and further tears at our national fabric.

Consider how many families can no longer discuss politics at holiday gatherings. How many friendships have been destroyed. How many Americans self-censor rather than risk the social and professional consequences of expressing support for certain people and policies.

This isn’t healthy political passion, it’s a kind of secular religious fervor where heretics must be excommunicated from polite society.

   The Media Malpractice

Our media establishment (The Fake News) bears particular responsibility for spreading this contagion. For nearly a decade, they’ve abandoned journalistic standards in favor of a narrative crafting designed to portray Trump and his supporters in the worst possible light, as Crazy, Racist, White Supremacist, Etc.

Every policy disagreement becomes an existential threat. Every statement is stripped of context. Every action is interpreted with the worst possible motives.

Is it any wonder that millions of Americans, subjected to this relentless propaganda, have developed an irrational fear response? When major news organizations function as political activists rather than information providers, public discourse inevitably suffers.

   The Path Forward

The treatment for Trump Derangement Syndrome begins with a simple recognition, the American republic is stronger than any single president. Our constitutional system was designed precisely to prevent the kind of authoritarian takeover that TDS sufferers perpetually predict.

For those willing to break free from this cognitive distortion, here’s a prescription.

First, recognize that political opponents are not enemies. They are fellow Americans with different views about governance.

Second, consume a diverse media diet that challenges your assumptions rather than merely confirming existing biases.

Third, judge policies on their actual effects rather than on who proposes them.

Fourth, remember that our nation has weathered far greater challenges than controversial presidents.

Finally, understand that declaring every political disagreement a “threat to democracy” actually weakens democracy by trivializing genuine threats.

   The Constitutional Remedy

The founders, in their wisdom, created a system with multiple centers of power. Congress can check the president. Courts can review executive actions. States maintain significant sovereignty. Elections provide regular opportunities for course correction to get rid of the bad apples. If you don’t get out and vote, Then SHUT UP!

This brilliant system doesn’t require perpetual panic to function but the Democrats do. In fact, the hysterical overreaction to political outcomes poses a greater threat to constitutional governance than
the outcomes themselves.

The American experiment has survived a Civil War, two World Wars, the Great Depression, and countless political crises. It did survive and got us through the incompetant Biden/Obama administration, and yes, it will survive Trump’s second term (maybe 3) with ultimate success.

Those suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome would do well to remember that in America, political power is always temporary. The peaceful transfer of power, including back to Donald Trump, isn’t a crisis; it’s a testament to the enduring strength of our constitutional republic.

Perhaps that perspective might finally provide the cure for this debilitating condition.

   More To Come!

Until Next Time,

Rick Rose
