The recent infiltration of hardcore socialists into New York City’s government represents one of the gravest threats to American prosperity, freedom, and security in our nation’s history. The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), a radical organization bent on destroying capitalism and implementing a failed ideology responsible for over 100 million deaths worldwide, has embedded itself within the Democratic Party and seized control of key positions in New York’s political establishment. Understanding this threat and mobilizing to defeat it isn’t just about local politics, it’s about saving America from the same socialist nightmare that has destroyed Venezuela, Cuba, and every other nation foolish enough to embrace this toxic ideology.
The Democratic Socialists of America: A Trojan Horse for Marxism
Make no mistake: the Democratic Socialists of America is a communist organization operating under a deceptive, friendlier sounding name. Formed in 1982, the DSA represents a continuation of the socialist and communist movements that have sought to undermine American capitalism and freedom for over a century. While they claim to support “democratic” socialism, their actual agenda is the complete destruction of the free market system that made America the most prosperous nation in human history.
The DSA’s ideology is pure Marxism dressed up in feel good language about “equity” and “justice.” They want government control of healthcare, housing, energy, and eventually every sector of the economy. They advocate for abolishing ICE and opening our borders to unlimited illegal aliens. They support defunding the police while crime skyrockets. They push radical gender ideology and critical race theory that divides Americans and teaches our children to hate their country. They want to confiscate guns from law abiding citizens while releasing violent criminals from prison.
These aren’t moderate reformers seeking incremental improvements, they’re revolutionaries who openly admit they want to overthrow capitalism and fundamentally transform America into something unrecognizable. This was Barack Obama’s dream. Many DSA members openly praise communist dictatorships and defend the regimes in Cuba, Venezuela, and even North Korea. They despise American values, mock patriotism, and view the Constitution as an obstacle to be worked around.
For decades, this fringe movement remained marginalized because Americans rightfully rejected socialism. But everything changed when Obama took office in 2008 and began to build this infrastructure undercover, then when Bernie Sanders, a career
politician who honeymooned in the Soviet Union, ran for President in 2016 and 2020. Sanders legitimized socialism for a generation of young people brainwashed by leftist professors in our universities (Just like I have written in past articles.) DSA membership exploded from under 10,000 to over 90,000, an army of radicals dedicated to infiltrating government at every level.
New York City became ground zero for this socialist invasion. The NYC-DSA chapter, the nation’s largest, has operated as the shock troops for the national organization, testing strategies to seize power
in America’s cities and eventually Washington itself.
The Socialist Electoral Assault on New York
The socialist takeover of New York began in earnest in 2018 when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a former bartender with no qualifications and no understanding of economics, defeated respected congressman Joe Crowley in a primary. AOC ran as an open socialist, backed by the DSA and funded by radical progressives. Her victory sent shockwaves through the political establishment, not because it was impressive, but because it revealed how low information voters could be manipulated by slick social media campaigns and utopian promises.
AOC immediately became the face of the socialist movement, pushing the insane “Green New Deal” that would destroy millions of jobs, ban air travel, eliminate cars, and cost $93 trillion. She advocates for completely open borders, abolishing ICE, and providing free healthcare to illegal aliens. She supports defunding the police, releasing criminals from prison, and essentially legalizing crime. Her economic illiteracy is staggering, she thinks unemployment is low because people work two jobs and has no idea how basic economics works. Now that was AOC, Doesn’t that sound exactly what Comie Mamdani ran on?
But AOC was just the beginning. In 2019, the DSA helped elect six radical socialists to the New York State Legislature. These extremists immediately began pushing legislation to implement single payer healthcare (which would bankrupt the state), universal rent control (which always causes housing shortages), and the “Green New Deal” (which would destroy New York’s economy). Isn’t this what we have been hearing from the Progressive Left Nationwide?
The 2021 elections brought even more socialists into the New York City Council. These radicals campaigned on slashing police budgets by billions of dollars even as shootings, murders, and violent crime were surging across the city. They want to build massive government housing projects that concentrate poverty and crime. They support allowing ilegal aliens to vote in elections. They advocate for “participatory budgeting,” which means letting radical activists control how taxpayer money gets spent.
The results have been catastrophic. Under progressive Mayor Bill de Blasio and Eric Adams (who talks tough but governs like a liberal), New York City has experienced:
Skyrocketing violent crime, with shootings and murders increasing dramatically. A homelessness crisis with over 90,000 people in shelters, including dangerous mentally ill individuals terrorizing subway riders. An exodus of businesses and productive taxpayers fleeing oppressive taxes and regulations. Rampant shoplifting and retail theft that has forced stores to close. Deteriorating subways that are dirty, dangerous, and unreliable. Failing schools that graduate students who can’t read or do basic math. Exploding budgets driven by unsustainable spending on social programs.
This is what socialism produces: decay, dysfunction, danger, and decline. And the socialists’ response? Double down on the same failed policies and blame “capitalism” for problems caused by their own disastrous governance.
Socialism vs. Communism: A Distinction Without a Difference
Socialist politicians and their media allies desperately want Americans to believe there’s a meaningful difference between “democratic socialism” and communism. This is a lie designed to make their radical ideology seem acceptable.
History proves that socialism and communism are simply different stages of the same totalitarian system. Karl Marx himself made no real distinction between the two, socialism was the transitional phase toward full communism. Every communist dictatorship in history started by promising democratic socialism, worker control, and economic justice. Then, once socialists seized power, they revealed their true nature: totalitarian control, economic collapse, mass starvation, and systematic murder of political opponents. Mamdani is already promising and implementing these plans and he’s not even in office yet.
Look at Venezuela, a cautionary tale that every American must understand. Hugo Chavez was elected democratically, promising to fight inequality and help the poor through socialist policies. He nationalized industries, imposed price controls, expanded government programs, and attacked “greedy capitalists.” The international left celebrated Venezuela as a model. Bernie Sanders praised it. But predictably, socialism destroyed Venezuela’s economy. Today, Venezuela is a failed state with hyperinflation, mass starvation, empty store shelves,no electricity, and a brutal dictatorship that shoots protesters in the streets, and their population came running across Biden’s open borders to get away from it all.
The same pattern played out in Cuba, where Castro promised democracy and prosperity but delivered poverty, oppression, and thousands of people fleeing on rafts to escape. It happened in the Soviet Union, China, Cambodia, North Korea, and every other nation that embraced socialism. Over 100 million people were murdered by socialist and communist regimes in the 20th century, more than all wars combined.
Democratic socialists claim they’re different because they support elections and civil liberties. But this is just the sales pitch to get into power. Once socialists control the government, economy, media, and schools, “democracy” becomes meaningless. Citizens can “vote” but only for different socialists, as opposition is banned, suppressed, or criminalized. This is already happening in America as big tech censors conservatives, the FBI targets parents at school boards, and Democrats prosecute their political opponents, as they did to keep Donald Trump from becoming President. How’d That work out?
The DSA includes members who openly defend communist dictatorships and attack America as fundamentally evil. They fly Soviet flags at their events. They praise Cuba’s “achievements” while ignoring the police state. They make excuses for China’s genocide against Uyghur Muslims. These aren’t fringe members, this is the ideology’s core.
Any socialist who claims to support democracy is either lying or useful idiots who will be discarded once the revolution succeeds. Socialism always leads to tyranny because government control of the economy requires government control of everything else. You cannot have economic freedom without political freedom, and socialism abolishes economic freedom.
The Real Catastrophe: Socialist Policies Will Destroying New York City and America.
While socialists claim capitalism is creating catastrophe, reality proves the opposite. The actual disasters in New York City result directly from progressive and socialist policies implemented over
decades.
The Crime Epidemic
New York City was once a war zone, violent crime spiraled out of control in the 1970s, 80s, and early 90s. Then Republican Mayor Rudy Giuliani implemented tough on crime policies: broken windows policing, supporting the NYPD, prosecuting criminals, and cleaning up the streets. Crime plummeted by over 70%. New York became the safest big city in America. Businesses returned, tourism boomed, and quality of life improved dramatically because of conservative values.
Then progressives reversed these successful policies. They passed “bail reform” that releases dangerous criminals immediately after arrest. They reduced prosecutions for “low level” crimes like shoplifting and turnstile jumping. They handcuffed the police with hostile oversight and threats of prosecution. They slashed police budgets and eliminated anti crime units. Progressive district attorneys refuse to prosecute criminals while persecuting the cops. On top of all that, Mamdani wants to de-criminalize drugs and legalize prostitution.
The results were predictable: crime exploded. Shootings doubled. Murders spiked. Subway crimes skyrocketed. Businesses are robbed daily by organized shoplifting gangs. Random attacks terrorize citizens. Violent mentally ill homeless people push innocent New Yorkers onto subway tracks, it’s freakin nuts.
Socialists caused this catastrophe through their soft on crime policies, then they blame “inequality” and demand more government spending on social programs that enable dysfunction.
The Housing Crisis
New York has some of the most restrictive housing regulations in America, thanks to progressive politicians. Rent control, which economists universally recognize as disastrous policy, has been in place for decades. Excessive building regulations make construction prohibitively expensive. Environmental reviews delay projects for years. Union requirements drive up costs. Zoning restrictions limit new development.
These government interventions, all supported by socialists, created the housing shortage and unaffordable rents. In a free market, high prices would trigger massive new construction until supply met demand and prices fell. But government prevents this, then socialists blame “greedy landlords” and “capitalism” for problems government created.
The Mamdani/AOC socialist solution? More rent control, more regulations, and massive government housing projects. (They don’t want you owning your own home) But rent control always creates housing shortages, landlords convert units to condos or let buildings deteriorate because they can’t afford maintenance. (Then the government can foreclose or China can buy them up) Government housing projects become crime ridden disasters that trap residents in poverty. This pattern has repeated everywhere these policies are tried.
The real solution is deregulation: eliminate rent control, streamline building approvals, reduce costly requirements, and let the free market build housing. But socialists oppose this because they want government control, not solutions.
The Dependency Crisis
Progressive policies have created a permanent underclass dependent on government. New York spends over $3 billion annually on homeless services, yet homelessness keeps increasing. Why? Because the system incentivizes dependency rather than self sufficiency. Homeless individuals receive free housing, food, healthcare, and services with no requirements to work, get treatment, or improve their situation.
This isn’t compassion, it’s cruelty. Enabling addiction and mental illness while calling it kindness destroys human potential. The compassionate approach is requiring treatment, enforcing standards, and helping people become productive citizens. But progressives oppose this because their goal is creating dependent voters who support larger government.
Similarly, welfare programs trap families in poverty by punishing work and marriage. The more you earn, the more benefits you lose, creating perverse incentives against employment. Single motherhood is subsidized while marriage is penalized. These policies destroy families and communities, yet socialists call anyone who opposes them “heartless.”
The Fiscal Disaster
New York City’s budget has exploded to over $100 billion annually, larger than most countries. Where does this money go? Bloated bureaucracies, unsustainable pensions, inefficient social programs, and corruption. The city employs an army of unproductive government workers with guaranteed jobs, gold plated benefits, and early retirement at full salary. The teacher’s union protects incompetent educators who fail to teach children basic skills. Transportation projects cost ten times more than in other countries because of mandatory union projects and government waste.
This is funded by crushing taxes that drive businesses and taxpayers to flee to low tax states like Florida, Tennessee and Texas. The wealthy individuals and corporations that pay most of the taxes are leaving, eroding the tax base and creating a death spiral. Soon, only the very rich and the very poor remain, a third-world city with wealthy enclaves surrounded by dysfunction. Remember, “Escape From New York.”
Socialists demand even higher taxes to fund more spending. But you cannot tax your way to prosperity. Eventually you run out of other people’s money, as Margaret Thatcher famously noted. That moment is approaching rapidly.
The Path Forward: How Patriots Can Save New York and America
The catastrophe isn’t capitalism, it’s socialism. The path forward isn’t more government control, it’s freedom (as Charlie Kirk professed,) personal responsibility, and American values. Here’s how
patriots can fight back:
Elect MAGA Republicans. The only way to reverse New York’s decline is electing Republicans who will implement proven conservative policies. This means:
Supporting law enforcement and prosecuting criminals. Eliminating bail reform and restoring consequences for crime. Removing progressive district attorneys who refuse to prosecute criminals. Cutting taxes to stop the exodus of businesses and taxpayers. Eliminating wasteful government spending and bureaucracy. Deregulating housing to increase supply and lower costs. Requiring work and responsibility for welfare recipients. Restoring school choice and breaking the teachers’ union monopoly. Protecting citizens’ Second Amendment rights. Keeping the border secure and enforcing immigration laws. This must be done all across America.
Cities and states governed by Republicans are thriving while Democrat run cities collapse. The contrast couldn’t be clearer. Florida under Governor Ron DeSantis has booming growth, falling crime, excellent schools, and people flooding in. Texas similarly prospers under conservative governance. Meanwhile, people flee California, New York, and Illinois.
Expose Socialist Lies
Patriots must educate fellow citizens about socialism’s proven failures. Young people brainwashed by leftist teachers don’t know that socialism murdered 100 million people and caused incalculable suffering. They don’t understand basic economics. They’ve been fed lies about capitalism causing poverty when capitalism has lifted billions from poverty across America and globally.
Share the truth on social media, in conversations, at school board meetings. Show what socialism did to Venezuela, Cuba, the Soviet Union. Explain how free markets created prosperity while government control created poverty. Teach American history honestly and how our freedoms and capitalism made us the greatest nation ever, instead of the WOKE history that has been taught.
Take Back Our Schools
The socialist movement recruits in universities where Marxist professors indoctrinate students. Public schools teach critical race theory, gender ideology, and anti-American propaganda while failing to teach reading, math, and real history.
Parents must fight back: attend school board meetings, demand curriculum transparency, remove radical teachers and administrators, restore patriotic education, eliminate divisive ideologies. Support school choice so parents can escape failing government public schools.
Support Free Enterprise
The best defense against socialism is prosperity. Support small businesses, entrepreneurs, and job creators. Oppose excessive regulations and taxes. Celebrate success rather than demonizing achievement. Show that capitalism works by building thriving businesses and communities.
Defend American Values
Socialism thrives by dividing Americans by race, class, and gender. Patriots must unite around shared American values: freedom, opportunity, personal responsibility, patriotism, faith, family, and hard work. These timeless principles built the greatest nation in history.
We must reject the left’s narrative that America is systemically racist or fundamentally flawed. America isn’t perfect, but it’s the freest, most prosperous, most generous nation ever created. We should celebrate this and defend it fiercely.
Prepare for the Fight
Socialists won’t surrender power easily. They control much of media, academia, entertainment, and big tech. They’re ruthless in attacking opponents as “racist,” “fascist,” or “extremist.” They’ll use every tool, censorship, lawfare, violence, and fraud to maintain control.
Patriots must be equally committed. This isn’t about political disagreements, it’s about saving America from totalitarianism. The stakes couldn’t be higher. If socialists fully capture America’s institutions, we’ll lose the freedoms our founders secured and our ancestors defended.
The Choice Is Clear
New York City stands at a crossroads. Down one path lies socialist policies that will accelerate the city’s decline into a dangerous, dysfunctional, impoverished disaster like Detroit or Baltimore. Businesses will flee, crime will surge, services will collapse, and only the very wealthy and dependent poor will remain, If unstopped this will spread across America to more cities.
Down the other path lies the revival that’s possible when Americans embrace freedom, law and order, and economic liberty. We’ve seen it work before under Giuliani in NYC.
We see it working now in red states governed by MAGA Republicans. The choice is between freedom and tyranny, prosperity and poverty, safety and chaos, American values and socialist ideology. There’s no compromise position, socialism must be defeated completely, or it will destroy everything.
Every American who loves this country must recognize the socialist threat and fight it with everything we have. The battle for New York City is the battle for America’s soul. If socialism wins here, it will spread everywhere. If patriots stand firm and defeat this toxic ideology, we can restore American greatness not just in New York, but nationwide.
The time for complacency has passed. The socialists are at the gates. Will we surrender our freedoms and prosperity to an ideology that has failed everywhere it’s been tried? Or will we fight for the American dream and the values that made us exceptional?
President Trump showed us the way: put America first, reject political correctness, fight the establishment, and never apologize for loving our country. That’s the spirit we need to save New York City and Save America.
The catastrophe socialists warn about is the one they’re creating. The path forward is rejecting their failed ideology and returning to the principles of freedom, capitalism, and constitutional government
that made America great. Nothing less than our nation’s survival hangs in the balance.
