NORFOLK, Mass. (AP) – Authorities in Norfolk District are appealing to the public for any dashcam or footage that could shed light on the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old man as he drove down Interstate 95 on Saturday night.
The victim, Justin R. Parker of North Attleboro, was driving a black Mercedes on the southbound side of the highway in Foxborough around 10 p.m. According to the district attorney’s office, an unidentified sedan, believed to be dark-colored or black, was also traveling on the same side of the highway. The driver of the sedan allegedly fired multiple rounds into Parker’s vehicle, resulting in Parker swerving into a family’s Lexus SUV, causing it to crash into the woods. The family sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Parker’s car then hit the center guardrail and came to a stop on the southbound lane. He was pronounced dead at Sturdy Memorial Hospital that night. In a statement, District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey urged truck and rideshare drivers, or anyone with dashboard cameras, to come forward with any footage they might have captured along those roadways during that time frame.
The authorities are seeking information that could help identify distinctive features on the car driven by the shooter. The suspected shooter is believed to have been driving along the I-95 southbound corridor after 9 p.m. from Waltham to the Rhode Island line, or along Interstate 93 from Boston or Weymouth through Milton and Canton.
“We are not asking people to go back through their video footage themselves and make determinations of any kind – we are asking them to call so that we can arrange to have police view the footage,” Morrissey said.
The investigation is ongoing, and the public’s assistance is crucial in potentially identifying the person responsible for the killing of Justin R. Parker.
